The day of the Illegal Immigration protests, and the two days following have been remarkable.

A common theme you can read in the Headlines that follow is that of “Backlash” – pointing to the less-than-spectacular impact of the protest; and the damage the protests did to both the image and the causes of the protestors.

Another theme, one which I do not see well-covered in the Headlines, is what I call the reserve of the American People. We allowed this event to take place peacefully; there were very few reports of violence, injuries or damage. For that, I am thankful.

One post did note the 280,000,000 who did not take to the streets. Consider for a moment what could have happened if it were not for the America Peoples’ reserve.

A word to those who might equate reserve with tolerance: don’t.

Americans understand this is a complex issue. Given to our strength both in numbers and in arms we can afford to be reserved.

Those who may be encouraged to ratchet up the noise-level would be wise to heed this advice: Don’t. When the tipping point or our reserve is reached, our lack of reserve will be difficult to withstand.

Right now, America clings to a glimmer of hope that our elected officials will act in accordance with our wishes to secure the borders and enforce the laws of the country. If our elected officials fail to act, it will bring the tipping point closer.

Americans may then ask, “If our laws are not honored, then which other laws should be broken to counter the threat of foreign invasion and restore the country to its Citizens?” After all, “Good people sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.”

Like I said, “Don’t.”
